My Adopted Code of Ethic…

As a Professional Coach, I acknowledge and respect my ethical responsibilities to my clients, colleagues, and myself. I agree to conduct myself responsibly with the highest degree of integrity and accountability. I will do no purposeful harm to myself, to those I partner with, or to the Coaching profession.

As a member of the International Association of Coaches (IAC) I have agreed to adopt and uphold their Ethical Principles and Code of Ethics.

My Personal Standards of Excellence

  1. I am aware of other peoples cultural values and beliefs… understanding that the viewpoint and principles of others are as valid as my own.

  2. I practice and respect integrity, honesty, and thoughtfulness in my business and in carrying out my obligations to my self, and to my clients.

  3. I will make sure that I have the experience and expertise in order to help a client with their situation prior to entering into a relationship with the client. If I do not have the competence to assist that client, I will have appropriate referrals available to present to the client. .

  4. I will, at the beginning of any client relationship, present to and review with the client the terms of our working relationship and make clear any expectations of either party.

  5. I will not use anything that is said to me or given to me confidentially for my personal or professional gain. All correspondence, meetings or telephone conversations with my clients is kept strictly confidential.

  6. I only assure results that I have the power to convey.

  7. I am aware of my limitations and only provide services and/or use technologies based on my current stage of capability. I will only give advice and or specific information that I feel I am competent to give. I will never knowingly give private or misleading information and will act quickly to correct mistaken exchanges for which I am to blame.

  8. I do not abuse the privacy or power trusted to me by clients.

  9. I will let my clients know of anything that is going on with me that would limit my helpfulness to that client.

  10. I will be totally accountable for my mistakes and will correct them swiftly.

  11. I take full responsibility for the work I perform.

  12. I do not take advantage of the lack of knowledge or inexperience on the part of others.

  13. I keep adequate records of my time with my clients. These records belong to me however the information I keep is completely available to the client at any time. I will not release any of the information to a third party without a written consent from the client or by court order. I will keep the client’s records entirely confidential while in my possession and properly destroy them when necessary.

  14. I will protect the interest of my clients at all times and will represent my clients professionally at all times.

  15. I stay up to date on my professional and personal knowledge and continue my education in order to assist my clients in their needs.

  16. I freely share my knowledge, skills and professional practices with my colleagues in order to support the community and to help build a professional society.

  17. I reserve the right to end a relationship with a client when it appears to be necessary. I will make available to that client resources and referrals.

  18. I will accept constructive criticism from a client when it is presented in a professional manner.

  19. I will continue to help educate the public in understanding the value of the Professional Coaching cooperative spirit.

  20. I shall not intentionally damage the professional reputation or practice of another Professional Coach.
